The Guardian Limited in collaboration with Zantel Tanzania has launched a ‘News SMS service’ that will enable Zantel’s customers access news from anywhere in the country.
Addressing media personnel yesterday in Dar es salaam, Zantel Director, Mobile Finance Hashim Mukudi said the new product known as ‘Guardian SMS’ and ‘Nipashe SMS’ is the simplest and most efficient way to unlock the world to its customers.
He said Zantel is proud to have launched the well-tailored news SMS in partnership with nation’s leading newspaper house The Guardian ltd.
Detailing on the new service, he said it will keep subscribers abreast with current affairs enjoying news updates at personal convenience and privacy.
“Our target is to provide our valuable customers with not only easier, but timely and reliable information from credible sources such as the Guardian and Nipashe newspapers,” he explained.
Speaking on behalf of The Guardian Limited, Director of Advertizing Januarius Maganga said:
“We believe this innovation will undoubtedly enable both The Guardian and Nipashe news readers who are also Zantel subscribers to receive the latest news from our media house via their mobile phones.”
He encouraged readers to subscribe to the service through Zantel to enjoy this unprecedented access to a wide variety of local, international and sports news from the leading newspapers, The Guardian and Nipashe.
“We have decided to offer the product through both papers, so as to meet the diversification of Zantel subscribers who may be comfortable in either English or Swahili,” Maganga added.
“To subscribe, one needs only send the keyword GUARDIAN or NIPASHE to 15501 and they will receive news contents on a daily basis for only 100/- per day,” Operations Manager from Premier Mobile Solutions, Lulu Ramole explained.
She was keen to note that subscribers can un-subscribe from the service at anytime they wish by sending the word ONDOA or STOP to 15501.
