Vodacom’s M-Pesa service is now available following a technical glitch on the system that occurred on Saturday afternoon and slowed down the processing of transactions on the facility.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam, Vodacom Tanzania’s Managing Director Rene Meza said, “I would like to apologize to all our esteemed customers who have experienced intermittent services on M-Pesa over the last few days.The technical issue on M-Pesa was unprecedented and we have now deployed a solution that will see us better able to tackle it should it ever occur in the future.”
Meza said that while some transactions were being completed during the service disruption, others were not going through the entire operation cycle due to a delay in the transaction processing rate that was caused by M-Pesa’s operating system constantly going into “restart” mode.
“Despite the glitch, we would like to assure all our customers, agents and business partners that their funds were at all times safe and secure,” he says.
Vodacom endeavored to inform it’s over 5 million M-Pesa users via SMS of the technical issue on M-Pesa and also proactively informed them as soon as the service was restored to normal levels
